Finding Runs
Ready to run somewhere new? Here's how to discover and join runs on My Hometurf Running.
The Explore Page
Head to Find Runs (the map icon) to see upcoming runs near you. You can use the search bar to find runs in specific areas or by keywords. Each run card shows:
- Route name and host
- Date and time
- Distance and elevation
- Current participant count
- Rating (if the hometurf has been rated before)
Search and Filter
Finding the perfect run is easy with search and filtering.
Search Bar
Use the search bar at the bottom of the map to search by:
- Keywords — search for run titles or descriptions
- Locations — search by town name or zip code
- Landmarks — discover runs through parks, forests, or near lakes
- Hosts — find runs organized by specific community members
Using Filters
Use the filter button to narrow down your options:
| Filter | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Distance | Route length (e.g., 5-10km) |
| Date Range | Runs within specific dates |
| Surface | Road, Trail, or Mixed |
| Beginner Friendly | Slower-paced runs |
| Hide Full Runs | Only show runs with space |
| My Scheduled Runs | Runs you've already joined |
| Proximity | Near your zip code (5/10/20km radius) |
Tip: The Beginner Friendly badge appears on runs with a relaxed pace — perfect if you're new or prefer a social run.
Joining a Run
Found something you like? Click on the run card to see details, then hit Join.
That's it — you're in! No waiting for host approval. You'll get:
- Instant confirmation
- Access to the group chat
- The run appears in your My Schedule
Conflict Detection
If you're already committed to another run at the same time, you'll see a warning. The system checks for overlapping schedules to help you avoid double-booking yourself.
You can still proceed if you want, but it's worth considering.
After Joining
Your joined runs appear in My Schedule. From there you can:
- Chat with the host and other participants
- Get directions to the meeting point
- Download to your calendar
- Leave the run if plans change
