Badges & Gamification
Your running journey deserves recognition. Here's how badges work.
How Badges Work
Badges are achievements you unlock through activity:
- Participate in runs — Both joining and hosting count
- Engage with the community — Rate, give nuggets, chat
- Reach milestones — Number of runs, consistency, etc.
Your Badge Collection
View your badges on your Profile page. The collection shows badges grouped by your role (Tourist, Host) — each with progress tracking.
Unlocked badges appear in full color. Badges you're still working toward are grayed out with a progress indicator.
Badge Types
Tourist Badges
Earned through participation:
- Joining runs
- Rating hometurfs
- Giving nuggets
- Being consistent
Host Badges
Earned through hosting:
- Creating hometurfs
- Hosting runs
- Getting good ratings
- Building community
Journey to Host
For tourists interested in becoming hosts, there's a special progression:
- Participate as a tourist — Join runs, engage with the community
- Earn Tier 2 badges — Show you're an active member
- Unlock hosting — After earning 3 Tier 2 badges, you can become a host
This ensures new hosts understand the platform from a runner's perspective first.
Progress Widget
On your tourist dashboard, you'll see a progress bar showing:
- How many Tier 2 badges you've earned
- How many more until you can host
- An "Upgrade Now" button when you're ready
When You Unlock a Badge
That moment when a new badge pops up? That's for you. We built a little celebration into the app because — honestly — you earned it. Take a second to enjoy it. Then keep running.
